Postcrossing and papercutting

This arrived via Postcrossing! Normally I just receive a postcard, but this was an envelope! It made me really curious! I can't read Russian, so I had no idea from who it was. Turns out it's from Julia from a city I can't read.

And this was inside! A really cute drawing, a papercut and a postcard. What a cute drawing! On the back of it a note about the smels, sounds, tastes and feel of autumn. Like! And then that papercut! Like Like triple like! She has read my blog and thought I might like her papercutting and drawing! Well I do! I do very much!

And then that postcard! A definite favourite! It's a collection, vintage, butterflies, flowers, ephemera. Well, it just sums up what I'm really into. Such a cool mail! I'm definitely going to send her something to say thanks!

Postcrossing mini-meeting

Marieke and I decided on having a postcrossing mini meeting. She is like the postcrossing Queen! We thought it would be really fun to sent and write postcards all over the world together. She brought me a present and a card! How sweet is that! I love the card with vintage nurses on it she wrote me. It's actually a get well soon card, and I'm not sick or anything, but she knew I would love this! And I do! I'm just a sucker for vintage and since I am a nurse this is perfect! In the present were loads of postcards! Some were really wonderful (birds, a cat doing yoga), maybe I am just not going to send the cool ones off, but hang them on my wall :-) So we got our stuff together, made some fresh mint tea and off we went! It turned out really chaotic since we got chatting and lost track of time, so when we finally got down to write cards, the kids decided to join in, which even made it more chaotic. We ended up with a table full of markers, postage stamps, stamps, pens, ink, stickers, books, etc. A total chaos! I will save you the photo, but believe me, it was a mess.... When the kids got to bed, and I cleared to table I sat down and looked at all the cards we wrote. Marieke has great stamps from Miss Honeybird (they are on my bucketlist!) which we used on the cards, some stamps are mine by the way, the typewriter stamp is mine for instance. My son has drawn some cute little drawings on the cards, I love this tiny crocodile! And although we ended up in chaos, Marieke and I decided to do this again some day, it was so much fun!

Postcardweek!

A week full of fun postcards! Marieke sent me a page from a Czech calender while she was on holiday there. Just to try if it would arrive. It did! Think it's hilarious! Also a postcard from Washington via postcrossing.

Life mustn't get any more crazy, I've even received a postcard from my manager to wish me a good holiday! A postcard from my girlfriend who's on holiday, written by her daughter. All about some adventure on a sea trip where everyone got seasick.

Vintage seaside

A great postcard from France. Vintage seaside pictures. Like!

Autumn postcards

I ordered a whole bunch of autumn postcards from www.natuurlijkefoto.nl.
Why? Just because I thought I treat myself to beautiful glossy postcards.

Mushrooms

I have a thing for mushrooms. They are kinda magical and mysterious. Intriguing fungus stuff. These came through postcrossing from Russia and Finland by the way.

Postagestamps

Aren't these postage stamps just wonderful? Beautiful birds from China and a big stamp from Russia.

Taiwan

Seems that mail from Taiwan is always full of great stamps. Stamps are fab! They have a tendency to send happy colourfull mail. Maybe I  should put Taiwan on my bucketlist.

Postagestamps

After a lot of bills this week, which is also mail ofcourse (but not really cool mail), I also had two postcards from Finland and Ukraine. Ashamed I must admit that the Ukraine postcard is most probably one of the ugliest ones I have ever received, but I do like the postagestamp. The Finland card had mushrooms on it, that I like.

Happy mailbox!

What a surprise today in my mailbox! A beautiful package! I'll share the contents later this weekend. And a postcard with a stork from Poland. Around here a lot of storks breed, eggs have already hatched. They breed on large poles, high in the sky. Usually a few stork sit on the lampposts around here, a pretty sight. Although they scare me a bit from up close, they're quite big! Folklore says they also bring babies. Wow, all this from a postcard!

Postcards and stamps

The backside of postcards I find really interesting. The postagestamps, the handwriting of someone and the little things people wish to share. A taiwanese girl who's been to Taipei (must look up where on earth that is) with a pretty little illustration on this side of the postcard. And she stamped her name in chinese. A pretty postagestamp aswell!
A girl from Germany who loves the summer where everything's beautiful, written in a funny round curly handwriting. From China some healthy advice to take time to relax because I'm a nurse. A little addition on the end:
P.S. today is raining, my trousers and shoes were all drenched :(

Postcards from around the world

This week I received postcards from all over the world! From Siberia a lovely sunny "be happy" beach, from Germany a picture of a palace in Andy Warhol style and a sweet plant postcard from Japan. From Taiwan an antique map card. Postcards written by a chemist, a man, a woman who lives in the city where Toyota's are build and a woman from former east Germany. I don't know these people, but we all love receiving postcards from around the world. It's a joy!

Postcard and snailmail

When I thought that there was no mail on monday, surprise! A snailmail packet and a postcard from Taiwan! The postcard has a lovely old cardboard feel to it, it's not shiny or something, but the print stands out great on that paper. You have to feel it to get it I suppose. A definite favourite on my postcrossing profile!
The snailmail packet was a bit, well, how do I put it, ehh, allright. Seems that crafting is not everyone's talent, but it's from a good heart, that's the important bit.

I won some postcards!

Just because I liked the Facebookpage of www.natuurlijkefoto.nl I received some free postcards! The webshop offers some wonderful nature postcards. I must say, the quality is surprisingly good! Vibrant colours and a lovely feel to it. I always find it important that a postcard doesn't feel flimsy, it has to have a solid feel. The webshop also offers some great dutch stamps! I must get some before postal rates go up :-)

What a beautiful stamp!

Today I received a postcard from Prague in the Czech republic. What a beautiful stamp! The card was nice, but honesty tells me that I do like the stamp more than the postcard........ ;-)
Why haven't we got such beautiful stamps over here.....
