I had this book lying around. It was just the kind of book I didn't know what to do with it. It was a book about plants, the graphic design in it was great, but I really hated the colors. All dark green and dark orange. The size of the book was just perfect snailmail size. And suddenly it hit me! Wouldn't it be great to have a snailmail set for when you are a few days away! Easy to take with you and no one will ever know what's inside a book. A secret snailmail set! So I covered the book in Kraftpaper and glued an envelope inside and covered a few pages with paper. I've cut out a square with my blunt scalpel (i didn't have my new cutting knife by then) and glued the pages together. I've put as many snailmail stuff inside as I could fit in and made an elastic band from a pair of old trousers from my son to hold it all together tightly.
And this is what I managed to squeeze in! A pen, airmail stickers, stamp stickers, divine twine, a memory card of a rose, some cocktail flags, a card, a pink envelope with buttons, a small Kraft card, a few pictures of vintage ladies, a few tags, paperclips, a small stamp, colourful ink, a magnetic bookpage holder, a card with eyes on it, blue tape and some more stuff.

Funky snailmail
I have received a funky snailmail from Bianca! The envelope, (well actually it wasn't an envelope, it was a package in clear plastic!) in all black and white tissue paper!
Inside the package the same theme continued, little black and white handmade envelopes, a vintage postcard (like!), a bookmark, a tiny clothespin and a handmade holder for paper handkerchiefs. Inside the little envelopes some funky colourful stuff! Ribbon, cardboard numbers and sparkly dots! A funky twist to the paper handkerchief holder, it's a two-ways inside-out folder! For now I'm gonna stick to the red and white version, funky!Friday, 30 August 2013
Real sweet!
This summer we looked after two cute guinea pigs from Marieke. The kids just loved having them around. Two cuddly little creatures! Marieke and her boyfriend decided that guinea pigs were just not the right pets for them, and decided to go for a posh grey pussycat. So she sent a funky envelope with a message.....
in this funky envelope a funky card that said: real sweet! In the card a message: the guinea pigs needed a new home, and the kids were overexcited that that new home was here, with us! Real sweet!
So we decided to sent some mail back to Marieke. A while ago my daughter made her own postcard, how cool is that! On the other postcard it says: you deserve a big hug! Well, since the kids are overjoyed with the cuddly guinea pigs, that deserves a hug I think. This is what my daughter wrote (it's in dutch by the way).
