Advent mail to Majella

On a Facebook page about snailmail, someone wanted to do an advent swap. Make 12 items and buy 12 items with a total worth of 10€. First I didn't want to join in, way to busy! But then I got so inspired that I've joined anyway. I got hooked up with Majella (who organised it by the way). And someone else would make me an advent calender. This is what I've made for Majella.

I had this idea to make something with brown bags and labels. It took a while before I've found a place where they would sell these bags to individuals, and when I found such a place I got sick and couldn't get to that place. Well, finally they arrived through mail since I really wanted them so much! Because the whole thing is in the same style, it's pleasant and calming to the eye and it creates a sense of uniformity.

I've made labels with stamps and round pieces of Kraft paper and I used a red tie around each bag. You're not supposed to peek! At Christmas time I'll post what I've made for Majella, had a lot of fun doing it anyway!

Mail from Andi (the snailmail collective)

Mail from Andi arrived! Andi was my partner from the snailmail collective in august. Check out these amazing hawaii stamps! Love them!

Inside the envelope a perfectly wrapped package. And hardly no wrinkles from the trip overseas! Unwrapping is still exciting! Just like a birthday! Well sort of the exciting feeling you get when you don't know what's inside. Inside: a photocollage of surroundings from Andis life, stationary, a card (with beautiful handwriting), a heart shaped pebble from the beach, post it notes, chocolate (!), a Hawaiian stamp and a bookmark. She also send me the story of andis people (not on picture). I love this pebble! My imagination is running overtime with this! She probably found it somewhere on or near a beach. Maybe she found it and thought of this snailmail thing, or maybe it was lying on her desk for ages and suddenly it hit her, this was the right thing to send! Although my daughter has set her eyes in this pebble, I'm gonna keep it for myself! I'm going to put it on a shelf in my studio (when it's ready that is). And how cool is this! My own stationary!

Taiwan

Seems that mail from Taiwan is always full of great stamps. Stamps are fab! They have a tendency to send happy colourfull mail. Maybe I  should put Taiwan on my bucketlist.

Postcards and stamps

The backside of postcards I find really interesting. The postagestamps, the handwriting of someone and the little things people wish to share. A taiwanese girl who's been to Taipei (must look up where on earth that is) with a pretty little illustration on this side of the postcard. And she stamped her name in chinese. A pretty postagestamp aswell!
A girl from Germany who loves the summer where everything's beautiful, written in a funny round curly handwriting. From China some healthy advice to take time to relax because I'm a nurse. A little addition on the end:
P.S. today is raining, my trousers and shoes were all drenched :(

Postcards on the go!

And a bunch of postcards are on the go! From Finland to Belarus, from Germany to Taiwan. And it was a great excuse to use my new stamps I bought last week. Stamps with a typewriter, a bike and a cloverleaf. And my new stack of stamps came to good use.

Stamps!

I just bought a lot of stamps before postalrates go up! 130 postcards to write! Or 70 postcards to the world or Europe.
Hmmm endless postal possibilities!

Teachers gift

When summerholiday's are almost near, I ordered a special teacher's gift from www.postpapierenzo.nl. some lovely small stamps, ink and a thank you postcard. Teachers always love putting a stamp on homework. A praise stamp as you like. Unfortunately I ordered only for the teachers and not for myself. A bit stupid in hindsight, the stamps are quite lovely.

No mail on Sunday!

Because it's the mailman's day off, no mail on sunday. I received a packet though on saturday (yesterday) from one of my favourite webshops. A webshop full of paper, stamps, envelopes, and everything that makes me smile! www.postpapierenzo.nl
I'm a paperlover, just can't help myself.

I won some postcards!

Just because I liked the Facebookpage of www.natuurlijkefoto.nl I received some free postcards! The webshop offers some wonderful nature postcards. I must say, the quality is surprisingly good! Vibrant colours and a lovely feel to it. I always find it important that a postcard doesn't feel flimsy, it has to have a solid feel. The webshop also offers some great dutch stamps! I must get some before postal rates go up :-)

What a beautiful stamp!

Today I received a postcard from Prague in the Czech republic. What a beautiful stamp! The card was nice, but honesty tells me that I do like the stamp more than the postcard........ ;-)
Why haven't we got such beautiful stamps over here.....

Lots of stamps!

Today I received a postcard with lots of stamps on it! This is my first postcard from Marieke, whom I have yet to meet. We decided to send postcards to each other which should be a bit challenging for the mailman. A fun little project! In this case, the mailman decided to put his postmark on every single stamp. Well done mailman! Thumbs up for delivering this card!
